On the afternoon of May 22, Standing Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Mai Son received and worked with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) delegation led by Deputy Director of KOICA Vietnam Office Song EunEui.

Also attending were leaders of the Departments: Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Labor – War Invalids and Social Affairs; Education and Training; Vietnam - Korea College of Technology Bac Giang.

The project KOICA wanted to survey and support in Bac Giang province was the "Supporting Bac Giang Vietnam - Korea College of Technology to develop talents and skilled workers" project. The project was expected to be implemented in 5 years (2024-2029), with a total investment of 7.25 million USD (more than 175.2 billion VND), 100% of which was non-refundable aid.

The project's goal was to continuously and sustainably contribute to Vietnam's economic and industrial development through connecting skilled labor training and employment for domestic and foreign skilled workers; from there, creating a foundation for developing highly skilled labor in Vietnam's industry, aiming to train highly skilled people in the water and shipbuilding industry.

At the same time, link job opportunities in Vietnam and Korea markets for skilled workers; contribute to Vietnam's development through the returning workers program; develop skilled human resources and increase employment opportunities in Vietnam and Korea.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of KOICA Vietnam Office Song EunEui said that KOICA chose Vietnam, specifically Bac Giang province and Nghe An province to pilot this project, so she hoped the project would soon be implemented quickly, smoothly, effectively and with the support, companionship and support of the leaders of Bac Giang province, departments and sectors of the province so that the project could be implemented successfully.

After this pilot project, KOICA aimed to expand to other industries in the province to be the basis for replicating the project to a number of countries around the world, especially countries in the ASEAN bloc.

Discussing at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Mai Son briefed about the socio-economic situation of Bac Giang province. In recent years, the province's socio-economy had always ranked among the top in the country; industry developed strongly. The province focused on developing human resources, education and training, and vocational training. In 2023, the rate of trained workers in the province reached 76%. The rate of workers with degrees and certificates reached 33% (higher than the national average of 5.5%). Vietnam - Korea College of Technology Bac Giang contributed significantly to that achievement. The school was rated by the General Department of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs as the leading vocational college in Vietnam.

He emphasized that the "Supporting Bac Giang Vietnam - Korea College of Technology to develop talents and skilled workers" project implemented in Bac Giang province would create conditions for the province to develop human resources, at the same time create conditions for Korean businesses to use quality local labor.

He said that the sooner the project was implemented in Bac Giang province, the more effective it would be. The province committed that when receiving support, Bac Giang would use effectively; create the most favorable conditions for the project to promote efficiency and achieve project goals.
